Purpose
Our mission
Autonomía Coches Eléctricos is an editorial publication about the mobility transition in Spain, with the electric car at its centre. The first question anyone considering the switch asks is usually the simplest one, will it get me there, and every other question follows from it: how you charge, what it really costs, what happens on a long trip. We answer them one by one.
We do not promise a smooth ride, because it is not one. A transition is unsettled ground, full of uncertainty, the same uncertainty carmakers, governments and the whole industry are living with. Our job is to cross it with you honestly: to say what is known, point out what is not, and keep data apart from promises. When something does not work, we say so. When we do not know, we say that too.

Who runs it
Autonomía Coches Eléctricos is a project by Xavier Viloca Zamora. It grew out of a background in project management, data analysis and communication, and it brings those pieces together with a single aim: to understand the electric car and to know how to explain it.
We do not work alone. Every article rests on the work of the people who measure, test and analyse this sector, independent testers, specialist publications and official sources, whose material we cross-check and bring to our readers. The "we" we write with is exactly that: one person who answers for what is published, and a network of voices we credit.

Faced with change and uncertainty, we look for understanding. We are not here to sway anyone or to tell people what to do, the decision is theirs and theirs alone. What we do is help each reader recognise their own needs and set them against what the market offers. It is not our place to choose for you; it is our place to help you understand.

How we do it
The electric car sector is full of noise: carmakers inflating figures, publications tied to advertising deals, and a kind of showbusiness journalism that goes looking for drama, for sides to take and for the easy click, ahead of information anyone can use. Someone facing a real decision needs none of that. They need to be told the truth even when it is uncomfortable, to know that nobody has a hidden interest behind it, and to have the data explained in a way that makes sense. That is where our three principles come from.
Honesty
We show what works and what does not, without softening problems or overstating strengths. If the charging network falls short, we say so. If a long trip needs planning, we say that too. A reader who finds the experience better than we described will thank us for it; one who finds it worse will never come back.
Independence
There is no sales incentive here and no brand gets priority. We are not a dealership, we do not route anyone towards a purchase, and we have no commercial agreements that shape our judgement. Every model is measured by the same yardstick, whatever its popularity and whoever builds it.
Clarity
A figure without context does not inform, it confuses. We place every number in a real scenario, city, motorway, long trip, charging in a flat, and translate technical concepts into what they mean for the reader's life. The complexity of this sector is no excuse for being hard to follow.
